Apple, Red Date, and Millet Porridge
Summary:
This is a warm and nourishing porridge with a naturally sweet flavor from apples and red dates, combined with the smooth texture of millet, making it a perfect breakfast or health-boosting dessert.
Ingredients:
Millet 80g (rinsed)
Apple 1 (peeled, cored, and diced)
Red dates 5 (pitted and sliced)
Goji berries 1 tablespoon (optional)
Water 800ml
Rock sugar or brown sugar 1-2 tablespoons (optional, adjust to taste)
Instructions:
1. Prepare Ingredients:
Rinse the millet thoroughly. Peel and core the apple, then dice it into small pieces. Pit and slice the red dates, and rinse the goji berries (if using).
2. Cook the Millet:
In a pot, add water and millet. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat and stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Simmer for about 15 minutes until the millet softens.
3. Add Red Dates and Apples:
Add the sliced red dates and diced apples into the pot. Continue simmering on low heat for another 10 minutes, allowing the red dates to infuse sweetness and the apples to soften.
4. Sweeten and Enhance (Optional):
Stir in rock sugar or brown sugar according to taste and let it dissolve completely. Add goji berries in the last 2 minutes before turning off the heat.
5. Serve and Enjoy:
Ladle the warm porridge into bowls, let it cool slightly, and enjoy its smooth, naturally sweet, and nourishing flavors, perfect for all seasons.
