Sweet Plum-Flavored Fried Sweet Potato Fries

Summary:

This is a crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside vegan snack where golden-fried sweet potato fries are coated with tangy plum powder, creating a sweet and savory treat.

Ingredients:

Sweet potatoes (red-fleshed variety preferred) 300g (peeled and cut into thick strips)

Cornstarch 50g (for coating)

Plum powder 1.5 tablespoons (adjust to taste)

Salt 1/4 teaspoon (optional, to balance sweetness)

Powdered sugar 1 tablespoon (optional, for extra sweetness)

Vegetable oil as needed (for frying)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Sweet Potato Fries:
Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into thick strips (about 1 cm wide). Rinse with water to remove excess starch, then drain well.

2. Coat with Starch:
Toss the drained sweet potato fries in cornstarch, ensuring they are lightly coated for extra crispiness.

3. Fry the Sweet Potato Fries:
Heat vegetable oil in a pan to around 170°C. Fry the sweet potato fries in batches for about 5 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove and drain excess oil.

4. Double-Fry for Extra Crispiness (Optional):
Let the fries rest for 2 minutes, then fry again for another minute to enhance the crunchiness.

5. Coat with Plum Powder:
Once slightly cooled, place the fried sweet potato fries in a large bowl. Sprinkle with plum powder, powdered sugar (optional), and a pinch of salt. Toss well to evenly coat.

6. Serve and Enjoy:
Transfer to a plate and serve immediately. The fries are crispy, tangy, and sweet, making them a perfect guilt-free snack.
