The Two-Headed Bird

In the past, there was a very unusual bird living in the snowy mountains. It had one body but two heads. Strangely, one head often ate sweet and delicious fruits, while the other head never tasted such good fruits and instead only ate rotten and spoiled ones.

One warm and breezy afternoon, the bird flew into the forest again in search of food. Just as it stopped to enjoy some fruit, the head that had never tasted good fruit became jealous and muttered, “This is so unfair! Why do I never get to eat anything good? Since that’s the case, today I might as well eat a poisonous fruit—then you won’t be able to eat anything ever again!”

Hearing this, the other head tried to comfort it, saying, “Although I eat the good fruit, in the end we both absorb the nourishment and gain the same strength.”

Despite these kind words, the resentful head refused to listen and stubbornly ate the poisonous fruit. The result, of course, was exactly as one would expect.
