Braised Winter Melon

Summary:

Braised winter melon is a savory and tender vegetarian dish with a rich soy-based sauce that is both light and comforting.

Ingredients:

Winter melon 400g (peeled, seeded, and cubed)

Ginger 3 slices (shredded)

Red bell pepper half (shredded, optional)

Soy sauce 1 tablespoon

Dark soy sauce 1 teaspoon

Vegetarian oyster sauce 1 tablespoon

Salt to taste

White pepper powder a pinch

Vegetable oil appropriate amount

Water 200ml

Instructions:

1.Prepare the Ingredients:

Peel and cube the winter melon. Shred the red bell pepper and ginger.

2.Sauté the Aromatics:

Heat a pan with vegetable oil. Add shredded ginger and stir-fry until fragrant, then add the winter melon and cook until slightly translucent.

3.Add Seasonings:

Add soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and vegetarian oyster sauce. Stir well to coat the winter melon evenly.

4.Simmer with Water:

Pour in water, cover with a lid, and simmer over medium-low heat for 8–10 minutes until the melon becomes soft.

5.Adjust Flavor:

Add salt and white pepper powder. Stir in the shredded red pepper for color and aroma, and cook for 1 more minute.

6.Reduce and Serve:

When the sauce slightly thickens, turn off the heat and transfer to a plate. Serve warm
